Amman, April 25, 2024 - Under the patronage and in the presence of HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center (KHCC), the 14th International Conference of the Jordanian Radiological Society was inaugurated, with the aim of facilitating the exchange of expertise among radiologists from around the world.
The opening ceremony honored Princess Ghida in appreciation for her efforts to change the reality of cancer in the Arab world and support Jordanian doctors in their pursuit of excellence. Princess Ghida also inaugurated a medical exhibition featuring participation from global companies showcasing the latest advancements in medical device technology.
Dr. Waleed Mahafza, President of the Jordanian Radiological Society and Conference, noted that the Conference was held for three days with the participation of over 400 doctors from across the world. It provided a platform for gathering technical information on radiology, and offered an opportunity for attendees to explore the latest advances in the field. Dr. Mahafza also noted that the Conference hosted 45 scientific lectures, including 39 lectures by doctors from the United States, Austria, Italy, Britain, Romania, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, in addition to 6 Jordanian speakers.
Dr. Wisam Shamma, head of the Conference’s scientific committee, emphasized that the conference marked a significant leap forward in the already-distinguished level of radiology in Jordan, with the latest developments in radiology and its subspecialties in diagnostic radiology discussed over the course of 11 sessions.
Additionally, several workshops were held during the conference, presented by a selection of esteemed doctors and specialists covering various topics such as the use of ultrasound in examining the skeletal structure of the shoulder and hands, elastography, breast imaging using contrast-enhanced mammography, and imaging spinal infections.
