Amman, 15 August 2021- HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center (KHCC) signed a cooperation agreement with H.E. Dr. Feras Hawari, Minister of Health, in the presence of H.E. Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh, Prime Minister of Jordan.
The agreement states that KHCC will assume supervisory, administrative and operational responsibilities of the department of Oncology and Hematology at Al Bashir Hospital (Samih Darwazah Oncology Center). This will include daily outpatient services and chemotherapy, (according to the treatment plan for each patient specified by KHCC’s multidisciplinary committee) as well as the provision of experienced, specialized medical and support staff as needed.
Princess Ghida noted that the agreement between KHCC and Al Bashir Hospital will offer every cancer patient in Jordan a real opportunity for recovery by providing the best treatment and medical practice in line with the latest international standards and protocols.
The Prime Minister also expressed confidence in the operation of Al Bashir Hospital’s cancer treatment department, noting that Al Bashir Hospital aims to upgrade the quality of medical services provided to patients, operating with similar efficiency to that of KHCC – one of the leaders in cancer treatment at the local, regional and international levels.
The Minister of Health emphasized that the agreement aims to improve service delivery at Al Bashir Hospital and to guarantee the right of treatment for all cancer patients. Moreover, it seeks to ensure a safe environment for patients with conditions that preserve their dignity and humanity and that consider the particularity of their illness.
