Sharjah, November 2015 - A King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) delegation - headed by the Chairperson of KHCF Board of Trustees HRH Princess Ghida Talal and Director General of KHCF HRH Princess Dina Mired - has participated in the Global NCD Alliance Forum 2015 in Sharjah. Co-organized by the NCD Alliance and the Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP), the Forum was held under the patronage of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah and the Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Founder and Royal Patron of FoCP, HRH Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi.
KHCF’s involvement is closely aligned with its commitment to championing the fight against cancer in Jordan and the Arab World. The Forum - which drew the participation of a host of prominent NCD organizations, committees, and experts - was aimed at accelerating efforts and resources to support the global battle against non-communicable diseases on both the regional and international fronts, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
HRH Princess Ghida expressed her gratitude towards HRH Sheikha Jawaher, FoCP and NCD Alliance for requesting KHCF’s participation. During the Forum, HRH Princess Ghida took part in a panel that highlighted the vital role of civil society organizations in tackling non-communicable diseases, especially cancer, as well as the barriers hindering progress in the region and how to overcome them.
Alternatively, HRH Princess Dina was involved in another panel on KHCF’s firsthand experience in terms of supporting cancer patients and their families and helping them become active cancer advocates.
The Forum discussed key topics and challenges pertaining to non-communicable diseases and methods to overcome them through a series of studies and previous experience case studies and featured workshops on how to maintain health and prevent the onset of non-communicable diseases.
