Beirut, March 2017 - HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, made opening remarks at the “Connecting through Research” Conference between the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC).
In her remarks, Princess Ghida called for the establishment of an Arab fund for cancer research to develop treatment protocols that are tailored to the Arab patients in particular.
Princess Ghida thanked Dr. Fadlo Khuri, President of the American University of Beirut, for hosting this international event, saying: “I am so proud of our partnership with the AUBMC and MDACC, another example of the important role that strategic partnerships play in the fight against cancer.”
The conference aimed to encourage researchers in the Arab world to advance scientific research and present a summary of clinical findings in the region through liaising with two prestigious medical institutions. It also aimed to encourage the exchange of experiences and research to make progress in the fight against cancer.
The Conference was attended by Dr. Asem Mansour, KHCC Director General, and Dr. Hikmat Abdel- Razeq, KHCC Deputy Director.
