Amman, May 2018 - HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center (KHCC), graduated 150 students from KHCF and KHCC’s Back to School program in a ceremony held at the Mashrek International School theatre. Thanks to the Back to School program, these students were able to finish the 2017-2018 school year without interruption during their cancer treatment.
Lina, one of KHCC’s bone cancer survivors, stated in her graduation speech: “I realized that cancer does not mean the end, but rather the beginning of a life filled with hope and happiness. I missed a whole year of school due to treatment, appointments and tests, but the Back to School program was the reason I was able to continue my studies and change my perception about cancer; it gave me a positive outlook on life and kept my mind off of any negativity.”
The Back to School program has accomplished several achievements this year, such as helping a higher number of cancer patients including students with special needs, thanks to the support of the Ministry of Education, Arab Bank - the main sponsor of the program, and Al-Nisr Al-Arabi Insurance Company.
KHCC Director General Dr. Asem Mansour and KHCF Director General Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish both attended the graduation ceremony.
