Amman, April 20, 2021- Her Royal Highness Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center (KHCF/KHCC), signed an agreement with Dr. Mary-Ann Etiebet, the Executive Director of MSD for Mothers. Through the agreement, signed during a teleconference meeting, MSD for Mothers will provide a generous grant to KHCF to support the provision of healthcare services for women in Jordan.
The grant, the first of its kind in the region, will fund KHCF’s Jordan Breast Cancer Program (JBCP) activities including promoting early detection and outreach campaigns to raise public awareness and knowledge of breast cancer The grant will also support improvements to the quality of services provided to women, especially pregnant women and new mothers.
Princess Ghida expressed appreciation for the initiative, voicing pride in the partnership with MSD for Mothers which “will boost efforts dedicated to raising the level of healthcare provided to women in Jordan.”
Dr. Etiebet noted the positive impact the initiative will have on women’s healthcare, describing the grant to KHCF as “an opportunity to step up the level of healthcare and preventative care provided to women in Jordan through a patient-centric approach, especially early screening services provided to pregnant women and new mothers.”
For his part, the Regional President for Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa at MSD Renan Ozyerli added, “at MSD, we believe access to healthcare can only be successfully achieved through partnership, and this collaboration with KHCF is extremely important because it will help to provide access to health to many women in Jordan who need it.”
The virtual meeting was attended by the Managing Director of MSD Levant Sandra Khoury, Director of Policy, Communication and Patient Engagement at MSD Levant . Hassan Bibi, KHCC’s Director-General Dr. Asem Mansour, and KHCF’s Director-General Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish.
