Amman, April 2017 - Under the Patronage of HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center (KHCC), the Jordanian Coalition for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) was launched at a ceremony held at the Amman Chamber of Commerce.
HRH Princess Ghida gave the keynote speech at the ceremony, highlighting the importance of forming a coalition for non-communicable diseases on a national level, in line with KHCF and KHCC’s eagerness to work with various civil society organizations to take immediate action towards finding real solutions that combat NCDs on a local and global scale, before it's too late.
The coalition was formed following the political declaration on non-communicable diseases, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly at the United Nations High-level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) held in 2011, where HRH Princess Ghida Talal was deputized by of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to join world leaders in calling for urgent action against non-communicable diseases to save millions of lives worldwide.
The coalition witnessed the participation of renowned organizations, boards and experts on NCDs, all working towards reducing the prevalence of NCDs: the world's leading causes of death all over the world such as cancer, heart diseases, diabetes, and respiratory diseases.
