New York – HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) attended an event for the Global Health Community with Lance Armstrong hosted by Mayor Bloomberg of New York.

The event showcased a LIVESTRONG short film by the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) entitled “Delivering Hope: Cancer Care in the Developing World” that captures the personal stories of three cancer survivors from different corners of the world – Jordan, Rwanda and Mexico. The movie reveals that quality comprehensive cancer care is possible, even in areas of limited resources.

During the meeting, Lance Armstrong, founder of LAF, said the LIVESTRONG team visited Jordan to produce the film and met with cancer survivors and patients at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC). The team witnessed first-hand the quality life-saving work being done at KHCF and KHCC.

For her part, HRH Princess Ghida Talal thanked Lance Armstrong and his team for creating this exceptional short film, saying: “KHCF and KHCC are a prime example that quality comprehensive cancer care is possible in low to middle income countries like Jordan. We are very proud to be part of this short film which is truly an inspirational documentary.”

Princesses Ghida Talal and Princess Dina Mired also attended the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) and gave opening remarks in a special session on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). NCDs include cancer, heart disease, diabetes and chronic respiratory illnesses and are responsible for taking the lives of 36 million people each year.
