HRH Princess Ghida has a strong commitment to health care in general and to cancer care in particular. As a newlywed, Princess Ghida faced a life-changing experience when her husband Prince Talal was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of twenty-six. For the next two years, the young couple battled the disease, fighting for Prince Talal's life. Thankfully, Prince Talal made a full recovery and Princess Ghida credits that difficult time with helping her to realign her priorities and learning to value the smallest pleasures in life.
“Prince Talal and I were privileged to be able to seek treatment at one of the best cancer centers in the world,” says Princess Ghida. “My mission is for every Arab patient to have access to the same state-of-the-art treatment and for every person at the King Hussein Cancer Center to know that their loved one is in the best of hands”
Princess Ghida is the Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (the Foundation), an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit institution founded in 2001 by Royal Decree to combat cancer in Jordan and the Middle East region. The Foundation is chaired by Princess Ghida and governed by a Board of Trustees, which is comprised of a dedicated group of prominent volunteers from the health, legal and financial fields.
